ACTAA – FFE MOU Exchange for Scholarship Funding and Skilling for Employability
A historic event took place on 17 April at the ACTech campus.
Ms.Vidya Shankar Immediate Past President of ACTAA welcomed the august gathering, and the Dean Dr.Jayavel addressed the gathering on the need for the scheme at this juncture to provide the meritorious students with the support they richly deserve.
ACTAA President Elangovan spoke on the relevance and approach of the Scheme that it was based on our alumni requesting us to streamline the process of student scholarship and remedy the challenges in collecting funds and in identifying the deserving students. The ACTAA-FFE scholarship scheme addresses all these challenges.
A platform is created to collect funds from batchmates in India and overseas both in INR and USD. The donors can pay annually or monthly as per their convenience with IT exemption benefits.
The students can easily submit their scholarship application in the website with all their details.
The screening and background verification is carried out by a team of dedicated volunteers. The selected scholars will be provided soft skill training and mentorship apart from financial help.
The student scholars sign a pledge to help the future students once they are settled in their career and make the scheme self sustaining in the long run.The batch wise collections and the names of the
students supported by each batch will be published in the website.
Chief Guest, Ms. Bharathi Baskar’s address enlivened the audience, she reminisced that the happiest days of her life were the 4 years at ACTech and implored the students to be responsible for their own future, paying back to the community once they get jobs and settled down in life. Those who study here are the fortunate ones and have a responsibility to shoulder the burden of the underprivileged.
Dr.Sudha Kidao explained the uniqueness of this scheme- that the FFE scholars in turn become givers,
and the philanthropy cycle becomes stronger and complete each time, giving them an upward mobility especially when they are first gen learners. The two organisations have come together to mentor and support them beyond just monetary help.
The students get all round skill training and sign up to provide such support to future candidates once they successfully are placed after completion. There is an ethics agreement they sign for performance, character and giving forward to future students.
Dr.JV Rao former HOD Textile Dept congratulated the association for joining hands with FFE for changing the destinies of many in the future.
Dr.Swarna V.Kanth thanked everyone for organizing and participating in the program and appealed to all to contribute their might, spreading the word among their batchmates.
